NXG Youth Motorsports Anticipates Busy 2021

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 7, 2021) – NXG Youth Motorsports had a busy offseason and looks forward to serving Central Indiana youth for the 15th consecutive year. Many of the objectives in a pre- pandemic world will be in place for 2021 including a new indoor season to accommodate more academy students on a nearly year-round basis.

“We developed the 2021 schedule with one primary goal: Continue to take steps to create the most dynamic schedule possible for our students,” said NXG co-founder and CEO Rod Reid. “Extensive collaboration between our partners at Fastimes Indoor Karting and Indianapolis Motor Speedway allowed NXG to create what promises to be an exciting 2021 schedule.”

NXG was born in response to the lack of African American involvement by introducing urban children to opportunities available in motorsports. NXG offers an experiential learning program that uses performance driving as a tool for life skill development, the application of STEM concepts, and exposure to career options in racing.

NXG programs introduce Black boys and girls to the fundamental aspects of go-kart racing that include advanced driving techniques, track geometry, mechanical equipment understanding, and self-control—each transferable to their future daily lives. NXG’s curriculum aligns with middle and high school academic standards in Science and Math related subjects. The academy is offered to participants at a reduced or no-fee basis despite the $506 cost per student in each class.

The new year represents another opportunity for the academy to introduce more children to motorsports. Thanks to generous donations by Lucas Oil, Penske Entertainment, and LifeSecure Insurance Company, NXG has an opportunity to run the academy during the winter months and further expand the program to Detroit, MI during INDYCAR Weekend this summer.
